#OndoGuber: Akeredolu says Aggrieved APC members have reconciled

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, yesterday disclosed that aggrieved members of the party had reconciled.

He spoke at the party’s secretariat in Akure, the state’s capital, after a meeting with its leaders.

According to him, the reconciliation committees set up to pacify the angry members succeeded in their assignment.

He said he was hopeful that his opponent at the primary, Dr. Olusegun Abraham, would support his candidature.

Akeredolu said: “Some leaders have intervened and I am sure that he would soon support me. He has shown it by stating that he had not left the APC and that his supporters should work for the party.”

He added that Abraham had been very receptive and promised that they would soon sort out other matters relating to the disagreement.

The candidate, who dispelled insinuations that the APC was still divided, said yesterday’s takeoff of campaign at Ore, was a sign that it was prepared to win the election.
“All of us, including the members of the executive are now united. We are prepared to fight the race together to produce the next governor of the state,” he added.
He said the interest of the party was more important than his candidacy. According to him, with the reconciliation now in place, “there is no more Team Aketi, but the APC and this election is for us to lose if we continue to fight each other.”

The state chairman of the party, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, in affirming the settlement, said the APC “remains committed to victory in the forthcoming governorship election, having allowed the dust of the primary to settle.”

He urged members to sheathe the swords and come together for the success of the party.
