A pregnant woman, Mrs. Afusat Kazeem was on Friday morning stabbed to death after being raped at her Ikorodu, Lagos residence. The incident occurred at Oluwoye community in Ibeshe around 2am, while the deceased, her husband, Yusuf Kazeem, 30, and two children Rhodia, 6, and Opeyemi, 5, were asleep.
According to the Nation, It was gathered that her attacker, suspected to be a member of a serial rapists’ gang, Badoo, gained access into their apartment through the window. The rapist, it was gathered, shattered the glass window at his victim’s residence and attacked Kazeem, who was said to have woken up to resist the intruder but he was left unconscious after the rapist hit a machete on his head.
Going after the woman, the criminal stabbed her before allegedly raping her.
The Nation gathered that the rapist chopped off one of Opeyemi’s ears and left Rhodia with head injury following the children’s screams after seeing what happened to their parents.
At the time of filing this story, Kazeem and his two kids were lying unconscious at Ikorodu General Hospital. The rapist, it was gathered, visited a nearby compound and attacked one Sunday Robert, 52, with his wife before fleeing the neighbourhood.
A resident, Bode, who hinted on the incident, said Mrs. Kazeem was stabbed near her face, lamenting that people were relocating from the community because of the attacks.
He said: “People are leaving the community because there is no solution in sight to these attacks. Several women have been raped and killed. Girls are molested by these rapists and yet, nothing is done.
“Some of us who do not have alternative residence are living in fear in this place. Imagine what he did to an entire family! The woman died on the spot. Her husband and children are battling for their lives in the hospital. They cannot even talk now. They are in coma. There’s blood everywhere in their home. Then, he didn’t feel bad and instead went to the next house and attacked a couple.
“We have been arresting some of their members. It is a gang of senseless and heartless people.”
Another resident who refused to be named said some persons were using the gang members to achieve their evil desires.
He urged Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to take steps to ensure that the gang members and their sponsors were exposed and brought to justice.
For several months, the gang has terrorised residents of the community, raping and killing women.
They mostly go after married, pregnant women and children, killing anyone who attempt to resist.
It was gathered that Friday’s incident was reported at Ipakodo Police Station, where most suspected gang members apprehended by residents were usually taken to.
Several telephone calls made to the police command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police (SP) to get official response on the incident were unanswered.
