Lagos School Kidnap: Police Rescue Two Persons

Two of the five people kidnapped from the Model College, Igbo Nla in Epe area of Lagos have been rescued by the Police operatives deployed to the area.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni said that efforts are on to rescue others as more operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have been deployed.

Two students, a teacher, two vice principals of the school were kidnapped by suspected militants in the early hours of Thursday.

The men, alleged to be heavily armed, were said to have invaded the college whisking away the victims.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has asked security agencies to intensify rescue efforts for the victims.

The resolution by the House followed a motion by a Lagos lawmaker, Honourable Wale Raji, under matters of urgent national importance.

Mr Raji told the House how the incident happened while students were observing early morning prayers.

He said that he heard about the development shortly after the House resumed plenary and he was compelled to bring it to the attention of the House and, by extension, the country.

Incidents of attacks by militants have been on the increase in riverine communities in Lagos state.
