The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday passed a motion for the introduction of toll gates on federal roads.
Senator Suleiman Nazif moved the motion titled ‘Need for the Re-establishment of Toll Gates On Our Federal Highways,’ during plenary.
Nazif said the toll fees will be used to maintain federal roads and construct deplorable ones. He said the Federal Government is unable to construct and maintain federal roads alone.
Senate Leader, Ali Ndume also supported the motion, stating that it was necessary to maintain the roads. Senate President, Bukola Saraki put it to a voice vote before the motion was passed.
