A plane carrying former Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Emenike and his Fenerbahce teammates to Manchester on Tuesday ahead of Thursday’s Europa League game against Manchester United was forced to make an emergency landing because a bird shattered the windscreen.
Fenerbahce, however, announced that there was “nothing alarming” about the incident.
According to various reports, the travelling contingent had a major scare when a bird crossed the flight path leaving the aircraft with a cracked windscreen.
The pilot had to make an emergency landing in Budapest where a second plane was then sent from Istanbul to pick the team up from the Hungarian capital and continue the journey to Manchester.
Fenerbahce is top of Group A with four points while Manchester United are third.
Manchester United could move top of Group A if they beat the Turkish giants.
