The All Progressives Congress, APC, has finally accepted responsibility for the current state of the economy after several months of heaping blames on the former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the nation’s poor economy.
After making the admittance on Monday, the party in power however promised to fix the problems.
This position was stated by the Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, while briefing newsmen after a meeting between the party’s governors and President Muhammadu Buhari inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Some governors at the meeting include those of Ogun, Kogi, Kaduna, Edo, Zamfara, Benue, Sokoto and Kano among others.
Meanwhile, the governors of Lagos and Nassarawa states were represented by their deputies.
The APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had months ago called on the PDP to come clean and tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians for their disastrous 16-year rule that has left Nigerians pauperised and traumatised.
Its National Secretary, Mai Mala Buni, had also reiterated that the PDP lacks the moral basis and credibility to comment or condemn the Buhari government on the economy after the mess it left behind, adding that the PDP should rather apologize to Nigerians.
