Adegboruwa: PDP is dead, no opposition to check misrule by APC

A legal practitioner, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa has lampooned the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, saying the party has become a perfect study in political failure.

Adegboruwa in a statement on Saturday said despite touting itself as the largest party in Africa, the PDP had since lost relevance and become a clear shadow of its old self.

He said: “Since its ouster in May 2015, this conglomeration of political racketeers and power grabbers, has never found its bearing again, showing clearly that it was only sustaining itself in power with public funds and electoral manipulations.”

“The PDP does not understand the role of the opposition and has since been struggling to stand on its bender feet. This has in turn galvanized the monstrous APC into a party of scoundrels and anarchists, ravaging all voices of dissent with such mindless brutality.
“Owing mainly to its manipulative tendencies, the PDP has lost most of its prominent members, it has also lost public support and sympathy and has become largely a party of grumblers and bitter losers, without any capacity for organization or mobilization.
“Yes, the PDP has suffered great persecution in the hands of the unforgiving APC, but that should be expected. PDP ought to have prepared itself for the consequences of its long years of misrule and wanton corruption, and not expect the greedy APC to pat it on its already loaded back.
“In Proverbs 24:10, the Bible states that if you faint in the day of adversity, then your strength is small. The PDP has not just fainted but is dead and now almost buried.
“Plagued by its self imposed internal contradictions, this party that enjoyed an unbroken reign of power for 16 years, does not even posses the simple capacity to analyze and dissect government policies and give positive direction, for Nigeria’s progress.
“It lies comatose, scrambling for power without direction, bickering and quarreling without a clear goal and thus falling and failing in all its wobbling attempts at survival.
“The PDP has for its manifest failure turned all genuine activists into the unofficial opposition and possible targets of APC’s wicked propaganda, persecution and hounding, all for the absence of any credible platform of opposition.
“The PDP has just shown Nigerians, how not to be a Political Party, much to its shame and folly. A party of army generals and beer parlour coup plotters cannot truly survive out of power, away from slush funds and free money.
“For the PDP, it is just the way the cookie crumbles. But for the now discredited opportunists masquerading as ‘progressives’, the fall and fall of the APC will surpass that of the PDP, as sure as sure can be,” Adegboruwa concluded.
