A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced a 25-year-old labourer, Elisha Julius, to two months imprisonment for stealing blocks worth N60,000.
Julius, a resident of Kado Bimko Village, Abuja, was convicted after he pleaded guilty for theft and begged for leniency.
The Area Court judge, Sadiq Abubakar, gave the convict an option to pay N6, 000 as fine, and warned him to desist from crime after his sentence.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Mr Dalhatu Zannah , had told the court that the Fonmilato Ominkule of Kado Bimko Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja, reported the matter at the Gwarinpa Police Station on October 4.
Zannah said that sometime in September, 2016 the convict went to the complainant’s block industry and stole 400 blocks value N600, 000.
He said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
Julius had pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
