Sunderland have put a £20 million price tag on Ivory Coast defender Lamine Kone in an effort to ward off interest from fellow Premier League club Everton, according to The Mirror.
Following the departure of John Stones to Manchester City, Everton are keen on bolstering their defence and would like to add Kone to the signing of Ashley Williams from Swansea City.
Kone certainly looked set to turn his back on the Stadium of Light after reportedly releasing a statement underlining his intention to leave Sunderland.
However, Black Cats manager David Moyes has denied any knowledge of this statement and the club claim that only £20million will persuade them to part with the French-born centre-back.
Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is expected to continue his pursuit of the Elephants player.
