A shocking tragedy has claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman after the generator managed to get loose from a moving vehicle in Etchingham, East Sussex and crushed her to death.
According to Dailystar, the police have arrested a 42-year-old man from Ashford, Kent, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. The incident also left a man serious injuries in the incident.
He was flown to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton, but is in a stable condition. It was gathered that the man and woman were walking when the generator struck them.
Witness Paul Hunt arrived at the scene shortly after the fatal accident.
He said: “I came upon the incident minutes after it had happened and there were a lot of people milling around.
“The generator was lying on the pavement and it also had a large pneumatic breaker attached to it.
“The lorry was parked up past the level crossing.
“The injured man was on all fours and had a head wound.
“The lady was in bad shape - she was lying on her back and was having trouble breathing.
“It was horrible. Then the ambulance arrived and told everyone to move on.”
