A woman was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly stabbing her husband in the chest because he came home late from work, according to police in Kenya.
Kiambu police said that they arrested Ann Mbaithe, after being accused of fatally stabbing 30-year-old Daniel Githuka, in front of his mother, following a dispute over his coming home late and drunk.
According to the police investigation, the couple had been married for five years and had a 4-year-old child together. The mother of the victim, Elizabeth Wanjiku, lives in the apartment building near her son and daughter-in-law.
On Saturday around 11:30 p.m., Wanjiku heard her daughter-in-law screaming so she went outside to investigate.
She then watched her son arguing with his wife about coming home from work late while under the influence of alcohol.
When Githuka insisted that he can come home whenever he wants, Mbaithe pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.
Githuka was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mbaithe was arrested at the scene.
