A 15-year-old boy, Ayo Oladele, was on Thursday brought before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun over the alleged theft of cable wires valued at about N300,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 21 at about midnight at the Halleluyah Estate, Osogbo.
Abiodun said the accused person conspired together with others now at large to steal the cable wires valued at about N300,000 and kept it in an uncompleted building owned by one Oladele Samuel.
He said it took the intervention of the residents of the neighborhood to apprehend the accused, before the arrival of the Nigerian Police.
He said the offences committed contravened Sections 516 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of theft and conspiracy.
Counsel to the accused, Mr Najite Okobie, prayed the court to admit his client to bail, in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N200, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
Olowolagba said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, with evidence of tax payment and two passport-sized photographs attached with an affidavit of means.
The case was adjourned till Sept.19, for mention.
