Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, chairman and chief executive officer, Capital Oil and Gas stole the show Sunday evening at the Olympic stadium in Stratford London during the Week 2 English Premier league fixture between West Ham United and Bournemouth FC. Just one day after sealing a multi million dollar partnership deal with the Europa league campaigners at thesame venue, capital Oil and Gas was Sunday unveiled to over 55,000 cheering fans at the Olympic Stadium.
In a brief but colourful ceremony, chief Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah took time to analyse the mission of his conglomerate which has grown in just a short time to become one of Africa’s largest oil and gas ecompany.
He said, the decision to partner West Ham United is borne out of his desire to spread his tentacles beyond the frontiers of Africa.
As chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, a Nigeria professional football league side, the amiable Anambra state billionaire, is gradually taking Nigeria football by storm after guiding the Nnewi based club to the semi final of the the Federation Cup this season and a top four position in the very competitive NPFL. This was the motivation behind his zeal to further popularize the club by partnering with a top premier league side that shares thesame vision with FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
This decision was greeted with applause as West Ham United fans stood up in unison when the announcement was made on the public address system.
Dressed in blue jean with black blazer to match, Ubah who led a twenty man strong delegation to the stadium, watched in amazement as his team was treated to some lavish reception and accorded princely services all through the ninety minutes duration of the match which West Ham United won by a lone goal.
The high point of the ceremony came at the interval when Ubah presented a gift of appreciation to the chairman of West Ham United Mr David Gold who in his short speech, described the gesture as marvellous and expressed his and West Ham United’s desire to make this partnership a huge success. In the larger picture, Gold is looking forward to West Ham United coming to Nigeria someday for pre season tour. At the post match press conference, Mikael Antonio whose lone goal sent Bournemouth back empty handed on Sunday, said the players are happy to be appreciated by a company thousands of miles away from London. We heard the announcement while the game was going on and must say it is a timely motivation going forward.
Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah is gradually building a reputation for himself as a dynamic business tycoon whose passion for football has seen him invest millions of dollars in recruiting top Africa and South American talents who have formed a very formidable force that is now taking Nigeria football by storm.
In what looked like a coincidence, chief Ubah had other reasons to celebrate after news filtered in from Nigeria that his pet club FC Ifeanyi Ubah also defeated Warri Wolves by a lone goal in a week 32 match played in Ughelli
