National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has disowned a statement credited to him to the effect that he disapproves of the re-admittance of Chief Tony Anenih into the Board of Trustees, BOT of the party.
Sheriff said the alleged statement was an embarrassment to him as he neither said so nor authorise anybody to say so on his behalf and that he has nothing against Chief Tony Anenih or any member of the BOT of the PDP to warrant his opposition to their being in the august body.
In dismissing the insinuations through a press statement signed by his Special Adviser Media and Publicity, Inuwa Bwala, as the handiwork of mischief makers, who are bent on driving a wedge between him and fellow Nigerians, Sheriff maintains that, “he could not be moving against people at a time he needs every party member on board to move the PDP forward.”
He said people should not use his name to advance their selfish personal interests, noting that, he holds the elder statesman, Chief Anenih with a sense of reverence and “could not have made any remarks that will embarrass or bring Chief Anenih into disrepute,” the statement concluded.
