Abia State Governor's wife builds houses for widows


The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs Nkechi Ikpeazu, said she would not relent in her passion for the welfare indigent women in the state.

Mrs Ikpeazu stated this while presenting keys of a furnished two-bedroom bungalows to two indigent widows in Ohuhu and Amuzukwu communities both in Umuahia North LGAs of Abia State.

The two bungalows bring the number of houses built by Mrs Ikpeazu for indigent women across the state to 12.


Mrs. Ikpeazu maintained that she would continue to pursue her pet project in order to fulfil the promises made by her husband during the 2015 electioneering campaign.

She pointed out that the administration of Governor ikpeazu was committed towards assisting the less privileged and the needy through the provision of houses, good roads and free medical services, adding that her pet project, Vicar Hope Foundation, made it possible for her to realise the building project.

The governor’s wife called on wealthy Nigerians to always channel their God-given resources to better the lives of the less privileged in the society and other useful ventures.

Earlier, the Transition Committee Chairman of Umuahia North Local Council, Chief Okezie Ezigbo, commended the philanthropic gesture of the first lady towards the provision of adequate shelter for indigent women in the state.

He assured Mrs Ikpeazu of their support to her husband’s administration despite the political crisis being witnessed in the state.
