he Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fixed August 17 as the date for its national convention in the city of Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s expanded caucus held at the Yar’Adua Center in Abuja.
The Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee of the Party alongside the expanded caucus also took several decisions taken. The caucus set up a committee to develop new zoning arrangements for national offices with the consideration of the National Chairman zoned to the South having approved Zoning for Presidency to the North at the last National Convention.
A National Reconciliation Committee was also constituted to continue on the reconciliation efforts in the Party headed by the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.
