Minister of Power, Works and Housing says Energy Mix Document will reduce electricity tariffs, provide options for Nigerians


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has disclosed that an Energy Mix document the government is about to introduce will reduce electricity tariff.

He stated this at a public forum in Abuja, adding that the Federal Government was working hard to ensure the major source of power, gas, was diversified and other sources of generation and supply come on stream.

The Minister said the Energy Mix Document will soon be launched and thoroughly implemented to give Nigerians options to access different sources of power at a lower cost which will enhance rapid economic growth and development.


Fashola said, “We have concluded on the Energy Mix Document and how energy mix will help solve cost on energy, availability in the rural areas, and we will unveil the document in August.
“We shall look at our energy sources like gas, hydro, solar and also develop other sources of power.
“It will also help us control the vandalisation of gas pipelines simply because we have depended on a lot on gas.
“The Energy Mix will help us build more hydro, solar plants and keep our environment.”
