Man sentenced to seven years in prison for fraud

A 42-year- old man, Charles Hamilton, has been sentenced to seven- year imprisonment for defrauding a company of N485,000.

Hamilton was jailed by an Evboriaria Magistrates Court after he was arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police prosecutor, Aigbedion Obarkpalor, told the court that the accused with others at large, committed the crime between December 2013 and April 2014, at Zeenab Foods Limited, KM 8, Benin-Sapele Road, Benin.

Obarkpalor informed the court that the convict who worked as a manager with the said company unlawfully converted N485,000 meant for the purchase of production materials to his personal use.
