INSPIRING! Man finishes running marathon despite suffering heart attack before finish line

A middle-aged man of the United Kingdom, managed to finish a marathon despite suffering a heart attack before reaching the finish line.

51-year-old Glenn Davies of Huddersfield, went to a hospital after crossing the finish line, and learned that the pain he felt while running the marathon was the symptom of a heart attack.

Davies told doctors that he knew something was not right during the Parkrun marathon, and though he slowed down after feeling pain, he was determined to complete the course.

His 47-year-old wife Samantha, who is a doctor working for the NHS, became concerned when she saw her husband at the finish line.

He was grey and complaining of chest discomfort. His breathing was also labored. Samantha insisted that they go to the hospital.

An electrocardiogram (ECG) showed that his blood pressure was fine, but doctors at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary in West Yorkshire, insisted to stay for more testing that revealed his muscle had been damaged by a heart attack.

Glenn was immediately taken to the coronary care unit of the Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax. He underwent surgery to insert two stents into an artery on Monday, and was back home the next night.

Glenn said that he never thought he had suffered a heart attack.

He made a quick recovery, and began walking 10 minutes a day shortly after returning home as per the recommendation of doctors.

After just a month after the surgery, Glenn managed to participate in another marathon and he made it to the finish line.
