In Edo State: NAFDAC Seals Three Bakeries, Arrests Managers

Three bakeries have been sealed off in Benin, Edo State by the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control for allegedly engaging in the unwholesome practice. NAFDAC also arrested three persons, suspected to be the managers of the sealed bakeries during the inspection exercise.

The affected bakeries were identified as Godswill, Life is Good, Our Daily Bread and Stone bakeries located along Sapkonba road in Benin.

The Edo Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr. David West, lamented that most of the bakeries produced unhealthy loaves of bread for unsuspecting consumers in addition to not being registered with the agency.

West said, "We have three teams carrying out this exercise in different locations in Benin today(Yesterday). From the inspection so far, we observed that most of the bakeries are not listed with NAFDAC and they operate under poor hygiene condition. We have given sanctions and made some arrest and they will be prosecuted," he added.
