Former U.S Speaker says Muslims who believe in Sharia law should be deported

Former United States House Speaker, Newt Gingrich, is demanding that a test be run on all Muslims to determine if they believe in Sharia law.

He opined that those who believe in the law should be deported. Sharia is a legal code based on the Quran and other Islamic scriptures.

Gingrich was reacting to Friday’s attack in the French city of Nice, which has killed at least 84 people.

Also his comment was close to the opinion held by likely Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, who has said Muslims should be stopped from entering the U.S.

He said:
“Western civilisation is in a war. We should frankly test every person here who is of a Muslim background and if they believe in Sharia they should be deported,” the BBC quoted Gingrich as saying to Fox News’ Sean Hannity.
He added:
“Sharia is incompatible with western civilisation. Modern Muslims who have given up Sharia, glad to have them as citizens. Perfectly happy to have them next door.”
