Edo State: Spain-based Nigerian seeks justice over acid attack

A 37-year-old Spain-based acid attack victim, Mabel Mark, has appealed to Edo State Police Command to arrest and prosecute the suspects involved in the incident in the interest of justice. The mother of one, who hails from Ohordua in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, was attacked by unknown persons at a salon last October at Upper Sakponba Road, Benin, Edo State.

It was learned that her trouble started after she met a native doctor at Upper Sakponba Road, identified as Okoh-Oboh.

The native doctor’s wife accused Mabel of having an affair with her husband, and told same to Mabel’s husband, who lives in Spain.

The victim is alleging that the husband, from who she is now divorced, connived with the native doctor’s wife to harm her, when according to her, she was not having any affair with the native doctor.

After the acid attack, Mabel was flown back to Spain for treatment.

Mabel, who spoke on telephone to journalists, said: “I have no money now to take care of my treatment. I am undergoing several surgeries and that is why I want to sell my property in Ogun State so as to be able to pay the bills.
“I am appealing to the police to arrest those who inflicted this injury on me because they know the suspects and I expect them to ensure they do not go unpunished.”
