According to reports by ireporteronline, the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Momoh Jimoh, has resigned. He was said to have resigned while the House was at plenary, adding that his decision to leave the seat was in the interest of the state.
The House immediately replaced him with Umar Ahmed Imam. Jimoh’s resignation is seen by some within the state as the solution to the crisis that had rocked the House since February 2019 after Jimoh was removed by five out of 20 members. The crisis led to the emergence of two speakers while a Federal High court in Abuja upturned the removal of Jimoh. Jimoh was quoted to have said his resignation was to ensure peace in the state.
