Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), paid a courtesy call to United Nations Secretary-General, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, On Tuesday 21st June 2016.
According to the pastor's official website, this was in order to explore opportunities for the UN system to leverage the influence of the RCCG and it’s leadership in facilitating interfaith harmony and peace, creating a conducive environment for action towards the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Pastor Adeboye in his address, stressed the critical nature of global peace and development which forward thinking (or like-minded) stakeholders and the United Nations genuinely seek.
He also stated that The Redeemed Christian Church of God is intensely focused on impacting the entire global community positively through the platform of its Christian faith and values. Insisting that the church remains acutely aware of the need to go beyond business as usual to reach (and continue to engage) the youthful population.
Pastor Adeboye further assured that he and the body of Christ will continue to step up to the challenge of providing above board leadership, which permits Christians worldwide to serve as a strong moral compass and voice for the society, speaking for the marginalized and disadvantaged while holding all stakeholders including the Body of Christ accountable to the population we serve.
Pastor Adeboye promised to continue to reach out to people of all faith and religious divide, to build the bridges necessary for sustainable peace and development. Insisting that RCCG remains open to working with institutions like the United Nations and other agencies in order to achieve our common vision for the world.
Pastor Adeboye also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the UN Secretary for an excellent service during his tenure.
