LA Star Briana Renee Delivers After Pregnancy Scare (PHOTO)

TV personality Briana Renee has safely given birth to her son despite her high-risk pregnancy.

PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the Little Women: LA star has named her son Maverick Jax – and the exclusive first photo.

Maverick was born at 8:31 a.m. Wednesday, weighing in at 5 lbs. and 3 oz., a rep for Renee tells PEOPLE. 

According to Renee, the newborn "came out screaming!" 

Maverick, who was born almost a month early, is currently in the NICU and needs assistance strengthening his lungs. 

The reality star experienced a pregnancy scare two months ago, when she was hospitalized at risk of premature birth.

She was "being held until doctors can slow down her contractions, minimize her pain and/or she goes into labor." 

Renee was closely monitored and prepped for possible surgery as doctors did everything they could to stop her from giving birth. 

A week later, she was released from the hospital after doctors "were successful in slowing down labor and eliminating her contractions,"
