EFCC Witch Hunting Agency – Bishop Sam Oyede reacts over Freezing Of Fayose’s Account

The president of God’s Fountain of Life Bible Mission International Incorporated, Delta State, Bishop Sam Oyede, has reacted to the freezing of Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose’s personal bank account by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Oyede warned the commission to stop heating up the polity by posing as witch hunting agency adding that it was unconstitutional for the anti-graft agency to be stepping beyond its bounds.

Recall that Fayose recently had his personal accounts in Zenith Bank, Ekiti branch frozen by the EFCC over allegations that monies meant for the purchase of arms were paid into the accounts by the office of former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

The governor, through his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome(SAN), filed an ex parte order deposed to on June 24 by Bimpe Olatemiju. He sought a mandatory order unfreezing the accounts belonging and operated by him pending the determination of his interlocutory application.
On June 28, a Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti deferred ruling on the mandatory restriction order placed on Fayose’s account by the EFCC.

But speaking with newsmen at Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday, Oyede said, “The EFCC stepped beyond its bounds and it is clear they were heating the polity.
“Fayose as a lawfully elected governor enjoys immunity. Yes, certainly, the governor enjoys immunity under section 308 of the 1999 constitution. That is the same immunity that the president and vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria enjoy under that section of the constitution.
“Nigeria is in a democracy, where the rule of law should be upheld and not in a military dictatorship that reels out inhumane decrees. By this act, it is clear that the EFCC is over-heating the polity.

“Who is ordering the freezing of Fayose’s account, the anti-graft commission should tell us,” the cleric said, even as he warned that the country was already grappling with the problem of the Niger Delta Avengers, Fulani herdsmen’s menace and agitations for the Republic of Biafra.
