Why Obasanjo went to visit President Buhari at the Villa (READ HERE)

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa. He arrived a few minutes after Buhari received the details of the 2016 Budget from the National Assembly, as he had demanded before he could sign the document into law.‎

In a brief chat with State House correspondents, the former president denied that during his tenure, he signed the Budgets without waiting for details, as claimed by the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Appropriation, Abdulmumuni Jibrin. When he emerged from the meeting with Buhari, the former president spoke briefly with the journalists, although he did not give details of his discussions with the president. His encounter with State House correspondents went thus: ‎
What is your mission to the Villa?
You know that not too long ago I was out there and I came to share some of my experiences with him.

What are those experiences?
‎If I say I share experiences with my wife, will you ask what I discussed with my wife?‎

You were mentioned as signing budget without details during your time‎. Did the issue of budget come up at the meeting?

Ehen I signed budget without details?
Anybody who told you that, go and ask him again.‎

Tell us then about the budget and the issues

To be able to tell you about the budget I have to read the budget to know what it contains and what it doesn’t.

Are we are going to be waiting for the assent of the budget for a long time just because the President wants to study it very well?

No. The constitution allows you to continue with the budget provided you did not go beyond the previous year and that can be done uptill the middle of the year.

What is your take on the President’s anti-corruption fight and the Senate President?

Ehen? What is happening to him (Senate President)?

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, is standing trial by the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja over alleged false assets declaration.

‎Earlier on his arrival in a black Toyota Jeep marked ABJ 425 PY, accompanied by one of his daughters, Funke, some journalists jokingly told Obasanjo that “your dancing steps last week were great.

They were referring to his short dance with former First lady, Patience Jonathan, during the burial of the mother of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, in the state.

Obasanjo who was obviously in high spirits, replied so you don’t want me to dance
