A lion mauled a 63-year-old pedestrian on a highway in Kenya after wandering out of the Nairobi National Park on Friday.

Officials captured the lion, named Cheru, that left the park and ran down a busy highway at about 6 a.m. local time, according to The Star.

The man was "clawed in two areas, on the front of the chest and on the back of the shoulder. He sustained lacerations, quite deep cuts in the left shoulder region and has sustained a small fracture in one of the bones in the area," Victor Ng'ani, the director of Mater Hospital, told the Associated Press.

The incident comes two weeks after two different lions ventured out of the park. An increasing number of incidents of lions going beyond park boundaries may be due to encroachment on the territory by government agencies, according toThe Star.
