Arsenal FC top list of most expensive ticket as 2015-16 figures are revealed

Once again Arsenal Football Club has top the list of most expensive tickets sold on match day in the 2015/2016 figures release. So there is some justification if Arsenal fans are calling out their club management to splash some cash and sign big players to help them challenge for more trophies.

According to report publish by UK Daily Mirror, the Gunners charge more than any other British club for match-day and season tickets - and there's just ONE side in the whole of Europe that's pricier

Arsenal fans are forced to pay more than any other Premier League club for match-day and season tickets.

The Gunners again charge the most expensive fees in British football, according to BBC Sport's annual Price of Football study which was published today.

Their most expensive season ticket costs £2,013 - almost SEVEN times the cost of the cheapest season ticket at Stoke, which at £294 is the most affordable in the top-flight.

By comparison, season tickets to watch Spanish champions Barcelona start at just £73.88 per season, while they are available for just £104.48 at Bayern Munich.

However, Paris Saint-Germain's £2,113.46 season ticket is the most expensive in Europe - trumping Arsenal for the title.

Despite the prices at the top of the British game, the cost of tickets has dropped or remained the same for the majority of fans.

Across the whole of British football, 70 per cent of tickets had the price frozen or even reduced for the current campaign.

But for Premier League fans, the average price of a seat has now passed £30 for the first time.

Match-day ticket prices also see Arsenal come out on top at £97 - a full £75 more than the cheapest in the division - on offer at Leicester, for £22.

Again, PSG are the only club in the survey to offer match-day tickets for more than the north London club.

Further down the English leagues, there are teams who have managed to keep ticket prices equally affordable.

Derby, Reading and Huddersfield's £10 match-day ticket is the cheapest in the top five leagues - only matched by Conference side Southport.

A Premier League statement read: "Clubs carefully consider the range and accessibility of their ticket pricing as recently explained by the likes of Ivan Gazidis, Robert Elstone and Tony Scholes. Proof that clubs listen to their fans and try to meet their concerns while ensuring they are still competitive on the pitch.”

Fans wanting to buy replica shirts have also had to put their hands in their wallets - with the average cost of an adult shirt in the Premier League rising to £49.68. Junior shirts cost on average £38.42.

Manchester United's £60 adult shirt is quite comfortably the most expensive across the top-flight, as is their £45 junior shirt. A full adult strip costs a staggering £118, or £103 for a junior kit.

However, Barcelona's £89.55 shirt is the most expensive out of the 227 teams studied.
