Three suspected insurgents and a Policeman have died after an attack on the Department of State Services, DSS, in Lokoja the Kogi State capital.
Explosions and gunfire were reported to have rocked the headquarters of the Department of State Services on Friday night.
Soldiers from the Maigomeri Barracks were drafted to support the DSS security operatives in an effort to repel the attack.
The attackers were said to have stopped a Dangote truck, fired at the driver and used the truck to barricade the road.
One of the IEDs which was yet to be detonated was diffused by the Anti Bomb Squad of the Police.
As of this report the DSS are yet to make an official statement about the attack, but unconfirmed reports have it that the DSS may have lost some of its men during the gunfire exchange with the insurgents.
Earlier in the week, the Kogi Police Command paraded over 70 hoodlums, more than half of whom were said to have been arrested at a place known as the Boko Haram village in the Obajana area of Kogi State.
The attack on the DSS facility is said to have begun around 10:30 p.m. On Friday and lasted till midnight.
