PDP says Tinubu Working Against Fashola’s Emergence As Minister

The Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State has claimed that National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, does not want former Governor Babatunde Fashola to be appointed minister by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The APC leader had in a statement last week denied reports that he was behind startling revelations detailing Fashola’s mismanagement of the state’s funds. He subsequently accused the PDP of sponsoring the reports of the immediate past governor’s N78.3m website.

However, the Lagos PDP spokesman, Mr. Taofik Gani, said in a statement on Tuesday that Tinubu’s feud with Fashola was an open secret, therefore, he (Tinubu) should come out clean to the people of the state.

He said Tinubu chose to deny being the one behind Fashola’s attacks because the ex-governor had threatened to expose his predecessor’s (Tinubu) alleged acts of corruption.
The statement read in part: “It is laughable that Tinubu can now blame the PDP for disseminating information which, no doubt, emanated from the office of the state governor and which was made public by the anti-Fashola elements within the APC.
“Indeed, bringing the PDP into this is to divert attention from the real issues of fraud in the state. Tinubu and the APC should rather face the accusations and not the accusers. We know well that Tinubu is behind the attacks. He lost cordiality with Fashola since the period of the APC governorship primary.

“Now he doesn’t want Fashola to have any federal appointment. The whole world knows this. He is now jittery and denying the attacks because of the rumoured plans by Fashola to release classified information of fraud during the administration of Tinubu. This is why Tinubu is now jittery and telling lies that we are behind the attacks”.
Mr. Gani reiterated the PDP’s call for the immediate probe of Fashola and Tinubu, adding that the revelations of Fashola’s spendings could not end on the pages of newspapers but must be followed to a logical conclusion.
