Ministerial Screening: Fashola, Amaechi and Fayemi allegedly fail screening

The Department of State Service, has reportedly concluded the screening of the ministerial nominees of President Muhammadu Buhari.

While Femi Falana, Pat Utomi and several others have been purportedly screened, a report by Nigerian Pilot insinuated that three former governors failed their screening.

The former governors; Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), are all believed to have close ties with President Muhammadu Buhari, having actively campaigned for him during the election.

The report says that the trio, who were initially seen as favourites for ministerial appointments, allegedly failed to pass the President’s anti-corruption test.

President Muhammadu Buhari had reportedly instructed received the DSS to not clear any of the nominees tainted by fraud related issues and allegations.

Consequently, the DSS was said to have failed to clear three ministerial nominees, as a result of allegations of corruption levelled against them before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission.

Another reason given for the refusal of DSS to clear the former governors, is due to the series of petitions written against them in recent time.
