Borno State has again been thrown into mourning, as suspected Boko Haram gunmen on horse back allegedly shot 80 people in three villages in Borno State.
Eyewitness says one of the villages, Baanu, is said to be a few kilometers away from Maiduguri.
The terrorists on arrival opened fire on the villagers, killing about 68 people. Other civilians fled the community for safer areas.
The attackers came on horses late in the evening, and began shooting sporadically, throwing the entire village into confusion.
According to the eyewitness, the second attack was in Hambagda, where the suspected terrorists killed seven villagers, injuring several people.
The extremist group has carried out deadly ambushes in the area bordering Cameroon and Chad, killing many Nigerians.
