Ogun Governor’s wife debunk rumour of arrest in London for money laundering

Olufunsho Amosun, the wife of the Ogun State Governor, has debunked speculations that she was recently arrested in the United Kingdom over money laundering allegations, saying the false tales were spread by those bent on destroying her image.

Mrs. Amosun made the clarification at State Hospital, Abeokuta, on Friday during an interview with journalists shortly after she donated milk and other items to expectant mothers on behalf of Aisha Buhari, the wife of the Nigerian President.

Recall that there were unsubstantiated reports recently alleging that the governor’s wife was arrested in London for laundering money running into millions of dollars.

However, reacting to the reports, Mrs. Amosun said she had never engaged in money laundering or any such crime, and would never do any such thing.

Responding to a reporter’s question, she said, “Well, I thank you for that and I am happy that you called it a rumour. I never did anything of that nature. But as you can see me to the glory of God, it’s not my portion; it shall never be my portion.
“And I believe that you know your Governor, His Excellency, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, I’m sure you know he’ll never be involved in anything that is associated with money laundering or anything negative like that. So, as you said, it’s a rumour and it shall remain so. It didn’t happen. It hasn’t happened and it shall not happen.”
On the donation, she described Mrs. Buhari as a woman of passion who decided to send across Frisomum, a nutritional milk for mothers.

She explained that the milk would assist mothers in breastfeeding their babies adequately as it would serve as ideal nutrition for expectant and nursing mothers.

She disclosed that the wife of the President sent several cartons of the milk to all wives of governors across the Federation and requested them to deliver them to expectant mothers in their states.
