The Federal Government has suspended the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Mr David Parradang.
The suspension of Mr Parradang, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Friday.
It was contained in a statement from the Ministry of Interior, signed by the Ministry’s Director of Press, Mr Yusuf Isiaka, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.
The statement did not state the reasons for his suspension but asked Mr Martin Abeshi, a Deputy Comptroller General to take over the affairs of the office.
Mr Parradang was appointed the Comptroller General of Immigration in June 2013 for a four year tenure.
He was in office during the infamous immigration recruit in 2014, which led to the death of at least 15 applicants across Nigeria.
