Chelsea have signed Barcelona forward Pedro on a four-year contract, the club announced on Thursday.
The 28-year-old has joined the Premier League champions for a fee in the region of €30m (£21.4m), with €3m also involved in variables in the deal. The Blues held talks with Pedro earlier this week and completed the deal swiftly, despite the fact that Manchester United were attempting to sign the player.
Barcelona also confirmed the news on Thursday, releasing a press statement indicating that their long-serving forward was on his way to Stamford Bridge. Pedro has yet to be officially presented by Chelsea, but it was reported on Wednesday that the player had flown in to London to complete his medical and agree personal terms after the initial contact was made.
Upon arrival, Pedro said: "I am very happy to be here. I am very excited to start my adventure at Chelsea and I am here to keep winning titles. Thanks to the club and the supporters for giving me the opportunity to put the blue shirt on."
