A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Prince Sani Usman, has asked Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State to stop picking holes in the past activities of Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Usman said this in reaction to assertion by Governor Oshiomole at a Seminar in Benin that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala illegally withdrew $1 billion from the Federation Account to prosecute the re-election bid of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
According to him, it is true that individuals are entitled to their opinions, but the comments credited to Governor Oshiomole were unbecoming of a Chief Executive of a state.
“If Governor Oshiomole admitted to have a vast knowledge and workings of government, he should know that the erstwhile Finance Minister cannot withdraw any money without due approval by the National Economic Council.
“The Okonjo- Iweala that we all know is a renowned economist who through hard work and diligence rose to the pinnacle of her career in the World Bank.
“It was in deference to the call by well-meaning Nigerians that she jettisoned her prime job to serve her fatherland. To in turn compensate her in this form is to say the least unjust and uncharitable,” Usman said.
