Twitter has launched a new update, to its iPhone and Web apps, that will now enable users add more characters than usual whenever they use the “quote tweet” function.
Originally, when you elect to quote a tweet, Twitter pastes the entire quoted text into text area, leaving you with limited characters to tweet with, depending on how many characters the original tweet had.
Now, the “Retweet with comment” allows users to embed a tweet in their own tweets, which in turn lets them get around Twitter’s 140-character limit when they write their own commentary.
According to Twitter, the new feature works like this:
Tap the Retweet icon.
- Tap Quote Tweet.
- Add a comment and tap Tweet.
- The Tweet will then be shared with your followers as a quote Tweet!
This feature is now available on Twitter’s site and iPhone app and will be available on its Android app soon.
