The Nigeria national team, the Super Eagles, may have been handed a tough route to return to the Africa Cup Nations having been pitched alongside six-time African champions in the qualifying series.
In the elaborate draws conducted Wednesday in Cairo, the Super Eagles who were one of the top seeded teams, were placed in Group G where they were joined by Egypt, Tanzania and Chad.
While Egypt on paper looks like the only threat to Nigeria in the qualifying group, some fans say the recent form of the Nigerian national team leaves much to be desired having suffered shocking defeats at the hands of lowly-rated teams like Congo, Sudan and most recently Uganda.
The group winners and two best second placed teams join hosts Gabon for the tournament proper
