Taylor Swift buys .porn and .adult domain names related to her name

Taylor Swift has purchased adult website addresses in a public internet domain sale, it has been reported.

The singer has secured the rights to TaylorSwift.porn and TaylorSwift.adult after they were released by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, according to a report from CNN Money.

The sale is open to the public on June 1 but high-profile celebrities and companies are being given the chance to snap them up first in what is dubbed the 'Sunrise Period' by experts.

Swift, 25, was targeted by internet hackers in January. They threatened to release nude pictures of the star after both her Instagram and Twitter accounts were both compromised.

Microsoft have also opted to purchase theOffice.porn and Office.adult domains in an attempt to stay ahead of internet trolls.

ICANN, a non-profit company, had announced the decision to release further top-level domains - also known as gTLDs - such as .com and .net in 2011.

Many firms are said to have decided against buying the domains, which can cost up to £1,679 as they do not want to associate a not-safe-for-work address with their brand.

"They want positive images - they want positive messages. They're not going to turn [.sucks] into a positive," expert Steve Miholovich, senior vice president of marketing at Safenames, told CNN.
