Kelly Rowland don't want to believe her mom is gone due to the joy of the birth of her son

Kelly Rowland hasn't had time to grieve after her mother's death. Kelly admits her world was turned upside down last year following the birth of her son Titan Jewell in November, when her mother Doris passed away just a month later.

And due to the upheaval in her life, Kelly admits she hasn't properly accepted that Doris is no longer around.

“It's definitely been a challenge,” Kelly said during an interview on The Meredith Vieira Show on Tuesday. “My husband says to me that I should think about it as 'the new normal'. And I think I've done that – I'm so blessed to have my son. I don't think I've had the time to really, really grieve. But I feel her presence often. The other day Titan was laughing, a real belly filled giggle, and he's looking up and smiling and laughing, and I was like, 'That's mom!'

“I just know she's always near and I'm so blessed for that. God gave me an angel and he took one of my angels away but he still has her covering and hovering over us and that's what I'm so grateful and blessed for.”

Titan is Kelly's first child with husband Tim Witherspoon. The former Destiny's Child singer admitted in the interview that when it came to becoming a first time mother, she struggled to adapt to a new way of life.

“I'm a little bit of a psycho when it comes to being a mother,” Kelly said. “When he was first born I remember not wanting anyone to touch him. I was one of those irritating first time moms when I'm like, 'Oh don't touch him, and don't do this!' To the point that if someone would touch him I'd probably slap their hand.”
