It was a shock last week after it was discovered that Nicole and Lewis had splitted after 7 years of dating and it wasn't clear if it was because Lewis wasn't ready to have a family yet that caused the split.
The 'Your Love' hitmaker, this week, has admitted her current stint starring in London's West End musical 'Cats' has meant she has had to make serious choices about her personal life.
Speaking in an interview conducted before the pair went their separate ways, she said: ''I have made sacrifices. This is very time consuming.
''I've left LA, left all my friends and my family. It's sacrificing your time in relationships, with loved ones, and my work.''
The 36-year-old singer also admitted she tries not to feel regretful about any of her life choices.
She added: ''I try not to regret things, because I feel like as long as you put positive energy towards something - and you put your whole self, your true self, towards it - it'll lead you to the next place you're supposed to be.''
Meanwhile, Nicole also opened up about her plans for the next 10 years, admitting she wants to have tried her hand at movies and have children by her mid-40s.
She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: ''I was supposed to do a vision board and ask myself that, but I haven't got round to it yet. I'll be around 45, I want to be looking good. Gosh, that's intense.
''I don't know, maybe have had some movies under my belt, more albums, travelling the world, world tours would have been beautiful ... having done a lot of good charity work...
''I'll definitely have [kids] by then. I'll definitely have that. Definitely, that would be nice.''
