This is a new twist to the main subject surrounding the only daughter of Late Whitney Houston. Her health condition has been the subject and headlines in many media house but a new statement from Bobbi Kristina Brown's family contains some interesting information about her relationship with Nick Gordon. According to dad Bobby Brown's lawyer, the 21-year-old aspiring singer is not actually married to the tech investor.
"We are currently investigating the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina," Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC told Us Weekly in a statement on Tuesday, Feb. 3. "To correct earlier reports, Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon."
The news comes as a bit of a shock given that Brown and Gordon announced their supposed marriage themselves via Twitter in January 2014. At the time, she posted a photo of their hands with what appeared to be wedding bands, along with the caption "@nickgordon! #HappilyMarried SO #InLove. If you didn't get it the first time that is."
They later told TMZ that they were planning an official celebration in the coming months, adding that Brown's grandmother, Cissy Houston, had given the marriage "her blessing."
(Brown's late mother, Whitney Houston, took Gordon in when he was 12 years old. A few months after her death in 2012, he and Bobbi Kristina announced they were engaged in a sneak peek of their short-lived reality show, The Houstons: On Our Own. When they called off the engagement just one month later, sources told Us that family members didn't necessarily approve of the relationship. They got engaged again in July 2013.)
Gordon was also referred to as Brown's husband by Lisa Holland of the Roswell Police Department in Georgia. After Brown was found unresponsive in her tub and rushed to North Fulton Hospital on Saturday, Jan. 31, Holland told Us that "the husband" performed CPR before emergency personnel arrived on the scene.
In any case, Tuesday's statement also included a message from Brown's father about his daughter's situation: "We continue to request privacy in this matter. Please allow for our family to deal with this matter and give Bobbi Kristina the love and support she needs at this time."
