Berry decided to invest in a lingerie company while “tooling around” Paris.
Halle Berry is passionate about creating underwear that doesn't disintegrate in the washing machine.
In October the 48-year-old actress announced she had invested in lingerie company Scandale Paris, with some of its pieces now available in Target stores. For Halle the exciting thing about the project was ensuring well-made garments were available to everyone.
“I think that's what makes a good bra,” she told to ABC News. “When you put it in the washing machine it's not going to fall apart. And that all starts with the quality of the materials that you're using and how you put it together.”
The star also had a surprising way of explaining how she got involved with the company. The way she tells it, Halle and her husband Olivier Martinez were relaxing in Paris when inspiration struck.
“Well, the truth is it came to be because I was tooling around Paris, because I'm now married to a Frenchman so I've spent lots of time now in France,” she said. “And one of our escapades walking around shopping, I came across this really beautiful, feminine, luxurious lingerie line called Scandale Paris.”
The pieces were pricey and so the star realised they wouldn't be right for everyone. That got her thinking about bringing Scandale to more people, and so lowering the price point. A new line will hit Target stores in the Spring and ranges in price between $7 and $18.
“I have bras that have either been given to me or I bought myself that are, like, $200, $300. You know? But you can buy a Scandale Paris bra for sixteen bucks and it's going to last you just as long and be just as beautiful, I guarantee you,” Halle enthused.
