Manchester United could make a last minute dish for German International

Man United need a strong defender in Matt Hummel considering that's the position they lack depth at the moment. If this deal go through then it would be a huge boost for the club as they push to play Champions League next season.

Report now suggests Manchester United are looking to make a swoop for Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels after Arsenal dropped out of the race to sign Gabriel Paulista instead, Daily Star reports.

Hummels has been heavily linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion in the past few transfer windows, with United and the Gunners both favourites to sign the centre-back.
However with a transfer fee of an estimated £30million, Arsenal turned their attentions to Villarreal ace Gabriel Paulista, who is set to complete his move to the Emirates after obtaining a work permit.

This has therefore opened the door for the Red Devils to make an offer for Hummels, with Louis van Gaal a big fan of the Germany international.

United have been keen on signing a world class centre-back since the summer, with the 26-year-old high on the transfer wish-list.

But despite Dortmund struggling near the relegation zone this season, Hummels is not looking to leave the Bundesliga club.

He told German publication Bild: “Are you looking for a headline?

“No, I will keep it the way I’ve been doing it for seven years.

“I’ll let everything come to me and just look forward only to the start against Leverkusen [on Saturday] and the second half of the season.”
