Didier Drogba Join the Elite as He is Honoured by Football Writers Association

Truly deserve accolade to one of the best Football Players Africa has ever seen. Drogba has proving that Africa Strikers can be ranked among the top class of the world. He gave a lot to Chelsea FC and one moment I will never forget was His contribution to Chelsea Champion League Victory in 2012.

Sportskeeda report that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reaffirmed that Didier Drogba is one of the best signings in the club’s history. He also insisted that Drogba would stay at the club, beyond the end of this season.

The tributes came after Drogba was honoured by the Football Writers Association (FWA) for his outstanding contribution to football.

Mourinho went onto add that Drogba acquisition in 2004 for £24 million was one of the ‘best-value buys’ ever. He also insisted that the 36-year old’s career is not over yet.

Didier Drogba joins an elite list of people to win this award, manager such as Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho have won this award in the past. The Ivorian said, “When you have achieved so much and won so many trophies like we have done in the past 10 years, that creates something special.”

He added, “I hope, and the club makes me believe, I am part of this big family, so we are going to find the best thing for both of us to promote the club in the best way. When I left this club (the first time in 2012), I was saying that I had done everything I wanted to do, but I think now that I did not do everything, I think there is more to do.”

'I love this club and would love to be part of this club for the future, with the new players.'

Apart from his playing career, Drogba was recognised for his charity work directed towards the game. He has funded several projects back home in Ivory Coast.
